Tech research firm Game Developers Research recently released their latest study showing that the iPhone platform is now more popular with game developers than the Nintendo DS or Sony PSP. Gadget review site Electronista sums up:
“Demand for the iPhone has surged to where about 19 percent of all game developers are writing for the iPhone and iPod touch. The figure is more than twice as high as for the DS and PSP and results in three quarters of all mobile game developers writing for Apple’s handhelds.”
The firm did not cite the reasons for the jump in developer interest in the iPhone and iPod touch, the high visibility of the Apple brand combined with a great set of developer tools and a well organized App Store makes for a very inviting package. The idea of 75 million devices currently on the market can’t hurt either.
